Ever found yourself applying every lip moisturizer under the sun but your lips still remain chapped? You are not alone. I spent a week trying every lip balm and oil. And still, I could feel the dead, dry chapped skin on my lips dividing itself into painful portions.

Well, it turns out I was missing the most important thing I needed to do before applying all the best lip balms in the world. All I had to do was to exfoliate my lips to get rid of the dead skin which was causing all the undesirable dryness on my lips. So I will share some DIY lip scrubs you can make in the comfort of your own home. The best is that you won’t be spending a cent because you most probably have the products in your pantry.

Exfoliate your lips to get rid of dead cells so you can keep your lips soft, smooth, and hydrated. You don’t have to exfoliate daily, twice a week is enough to keep your lips smooth and soft.

Honey Sugar Scrub

  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon honey
  • 2 or three drops of lavender oil

Mix these ingredients, apply on your lips using your fingertips and leave them on for two to three minutes. Wash it off with warm water. This scrub leaves your lips soft and smooth. You can then apply your favorite lip balm to keep your lips moisturized.

Coffee Scrub

  • 1 tablespoon ground coffee
  • 1 tablespoon honey

Mix the ingredients, apply on your lips using your fingertips and leave on for three to five minutes, wash it off with warm water, and apply a lip balm.

Cinnamon Scrub

  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon powder
  • 1/2 tablespoon raw honey
  • 1/2 tablespoon olive oil

Mix the ingredients, apply on your lips using your fingertips and leave on for three to five minutes, wash it off with warm water, and apply a lip balm.

Remember if your lips are dry try to avoid matte lipsticks for a while. I know matte lipstick looks good but it contributes to drying your lips so be off it for a while until you can be certain that your lips have retained moisture. And yes, drink a lot of water to keep yourself hydrated.
